- The Services for Students with Disabilities -ages 3-5 (formerly Preschool) component in the Special Education Division is here to support you and the children three to five years old with disabilities you work with in an array of services. All schools, public, private and parochial serving students three to five years of age with disabilities are eligible for the following services.
TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE is one of the services we offer, and we are eager to assist you. The Preschool Specialist, Carol White, is available for one-on-one, in classroom help in the areas of instruction, environment, learning centers, curriculum improvement, modification, program evaluation, and overall organizational techniques. The Mailbox-Preschool magazine is disseminated every-other-month with information and activities for teachers and parents. Assistance is also provided through coordination with Early Childhood Intervention (ECI), pre-kindergarten, kindergarten, Head Start, university and private child care programs.
ON-SITE VISITS from the Preschool Specialist are available upon request. These visits are designed to support teachers of young children through a variety of approaches.
STAFF DEVELOPMENT is another service we provide regularly for special and general education teachers, para-professionals, speech therapists, educational diagnosticians, child care providers, parents, administrators, related service providers and anyone else who values our children's future.
ONLINE TRAINING FOR CHILD CARE PROFESSIONALS: - Child Care Courses- http://childcare.tamu.edu Online courses for child care professionals seeking to fulfill state-mandated training requirements or obtain hours toward the Child Development Associate (CDA) National Credential.
COORDINATION with agencies and service providers serving students with disabilities -ages 3-5, i.e. ECI, Head Start, university, private child care programs, is maintained to facilitate transition from home and center-based programs to school and to develop a continuum of placement options for services to these young children.
