Introduction

If your answer to the question above is “YES”, you are in the right place. Learning the basic steps in solving problems will help the curiosity-minded find answers, and it will enable you to design an experiment of your own.

Task

After researching the scientific process, you will successfully complete a choice of one out of three experiments, identifying the steps in the scientific process.

Process

Complete the following step by step:

  1. First you will be assigned a partner because scientists collaborate (talk).
  2. Learn the steps in the scientific process. Make a chart showing the steps.
  1. Choose and conduct an inquiry-based experiment identifying each step of the scientific processes.

4. Identify and explain the different steps in the scientific process as related to your experiment.

Evaluation

A grade will be given for completing the steps.

4. Written document clearly demonstrates use of identifying the process steps in relation to the experiment.

4 – Written report lists in sequence the 6 steps with full explanation of its relationship to the experiment.

3- Written report lists in sequence the 5 steps with some explanation of its relationship to the experiment.

2 - Written report lists in sequence the 3 steps with a limited explanation of its relationship to the experiment.

Conclusion

The steps in the scientific process are valuable in knowing how to start an investigation and the sequence of steps to find a conclusion.

·         What is the difference between a fact and a hypothesis?

·         Did the results prove or disprove your hypothesis?

·         Using this knowledge, what investigation would you design and implement?
